I had depression since grade 9 but never knew until the middle of my grade 11 year. I felt horrible and didn't know why. I was so afraid though that I would start self-harming and I didn't want that to happen. As bad as things got, I always had to promise myself that would never happen. I'm still fighting depression but since being diagnosed, I've been finding healthier ways to deal with it. A professional diagnosis can change so much and make a huge difference
